$18+ for a store bought jar of dried orange garnishes... No thanks!

I decided to give it a go myself and am pleased with the results and all for a couple of bucks.

1. Slice oranges to approx 1/2 to 1cm thick. Using a mandolin ensures consistency and is really easy and quick.

2. Lay single layer on baking paper.

3. Bake in oven at 120c fan forced for between 1 -1.5 hours. Turn at halfway point. Don't use higher heat as they will burn ( I managed to do that as the second batch I was cooking dinner at the same time and too hot)

4. Once they feel like moisture is out, remove and cool. They will feel slightly sticky to touch.

5. Store in an airtight container. As there are no preservatives, keep an eye on them, always checking for mould. Especially in humid weather. I am planning to use in 2 weeks over Christmas. I don't recommend keeping long term.

Reminder 》》》 always use the correct materials in reno and builds. Using leftover materials that are not suited to the job is a waste of time and can sometimes be costly if more damage is created. Luckily, ours was a quick swap out, and now our windows will last years 👍

Having chronic health issues has meant that somedays I just can't do what I want to achieve, so I have had to learn that slow and steady wins the race. And if things take longer than I wanted, well....that's just the way it is, and that's ok.

Our wardrobe needs a cleanout, repaint, and I am replacing the mismatched frames with new to make a beautiful gallery wall of my favourite photos. I also need to sort my bag storage out. So far, I took down some frames 🤷‍♀️.

Quick Tip if you are renovating a kitchen
1. Take a stocktake of appliances big and small.
2. Think about what you want on display or stored away.
3. Note all other items in draws and cupboards and group together in ways you want to store.
4. Use this list to space plan your new layout.
5. Always allow some extra empty space in your design for future items that might be added.
BONUS TIP : Make internal cuboards and shelves as adjustable as you can so you can move sections in the future if needed.
